Using Art Found on the Web
Creative Commons
Creative Commons is yet another type of copyright. Check out photographs on CREATIVE COMMONS. Find a photograph and click on it to see the web page. It will tell you what sort of copyright it has. You can use most of these for free, just be sure to cite them.
Other places to find photographs: GOOGLE IMAGES, FLICKR. Notice that on Google Images, you can search for a face, photo, clip art, or line drawing. When you find one you really like, click and drag it to the desktop.
iPhotoOpen iPhoto on your Mac. Take the photograph you dragged to the desktop and drag it to the photo library. Click Edit and see what you can do with it!
ALWAYS INCLUDE THE WEBSITE YOU GOT YOUR PHOTOGRAPH FROM using MLA Format. See the Plagarism, Copyright, Format page for help with that.
Here's an example of a photograph that can be found on Flickr:
The photographer of this picture wrote on the website, "Feel free to use this photo for non-commercial purposes as long as you credit me with a link to this Flickr profile. Please notify me if you decide to use any of my photos. Thanks :)"
So, I can use it here, as long as I tell him and link the photo back to the original page. You can click to see if I did that.

You'll notice that in the bottom left corner it says Some rights reserved. That is how you can find the copyright, at least on a Flickr photo. If you click there it will give you the specifics.
