Contract for Digital Citizenship
1. I will remember that not all people have access to or utilize technology in the same way. I will not treat others differently if they do not have the same options that I do.
2. If I come across something inappropriate for my age during a search or other computer use I will immediately go to another website. I will tell my teacher right away if I come across any information that makes me feel uncomfortable. I understand that to have technology rights that I have to be responsible in my actions as well.
3. I will tell my teacher if I experience any pain or discomfort when using technology. I will remember that I need to balance technology use with other activities.
4. I will not respond to any messages that are mean or in any way make me feel uncomfortable. It is not my fault if I get a message that is not appropriate. If I do I will tell my teacher right away so that they can contact the proper groups. Additionally, I will not create any messages that are mean or in any way are supposed to make someone else uncomfortable.
5. I will treat others the way respectfully when using technology. I will keep in mind that my technology use affects others just like face to face contact does.
6. I will not download or install software or do anything that could possibly hurt school computers.
7. I will be a good online citizen and not do anything that is against the law or against school or district rules.
8. I will help my friends and family understand how to have fun and learn things online and teach them things about the Internet, computers and other technology.
